Leslie Uggams
Like any African American artist, Leslie Uggams is a jack of all trades, being an actress and singer, which made her earn a net worth of $3 million. Leslie was born in Harlem, New York, in May 1943. She earned a Theatre World Award and the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role in Broadway’s Hallelujah Baby! Uggams starred as Kizzy Reynolds in the TV mini-series Roots in 1977.
She landed acting credits in the TV series I Spy, Backstairs at the White House, That’s Life, Nurse Jackie, and Empire, and had starring roles in films like Two Weeks in Another, Skyjacked and, Poor Pretty Eddie. Uggams scored a Daytime Emmy Award back in 1983 for Outstanding Host or Hostess in a Variety Series for Fantasy. She also released several albums during her musical career. Her career went slow for a while, but was launched again, thanks to her character in Deadpool as the blind old lady. She just proved that her talent for acting was never out of time.
