Jennifer Hudson is a recording artist, spokesperson, and actress who has a net worth of $25 million who rose to stardom on the competition program American Idol. She was born in Chicago, Illinois and is the youngest of three children. She was raised in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood. Hudson attended Dunbar Vocational High School and decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree from Langston University. However, she left the university because it was too far from home and enrolled at Kennedy-King College instead.
Her grandmother encouraged her to join the local community theater, so she started singing as a little girl and joined the church choir. In 2002, Hudson signed her first recording deal with Righteous Records in Chicago. She was released from the record deal after joining American Idol.
