CYNDI LAUPER

Singer-songwriter Cyndi Lauper’s claim to fame is being a pop star, and she’s, in fact, one of the biggest names in the industry. Her career has spanned 44 years, and she’s perhaps most famous for hits like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Her distinct, four-octave vocal range has made her stand out among her peers, and she has sold a record-breaking 50 million records worldwide.

Lauper first found success after joining a saxophone player to launch the band, Blue Angel. In 1980, Blue Angel released an album with Polydor Records, and it attracted the attention of industry insiders, who acknowledged her phenomenal singing talents. Not long after, she quickly gained popularity among teenagers due to her punk image. In recent years, Lauper made investments in the musical Kinky Boots, for which her lyrics and original compositions garnered her several awards.
